Who We Are
Established in 1993 as one of North Carolina's first 12 Smart Start Partnerships and governed by a 21 member Board of Directors, the Cleveland County Partnership for Children is a non-profit 501 (c)3 that is proud to serve a local administrative unit for North Carolina's nationally recognized Smart Start Initiative, which serves children from age birth to five and North Carolina's Pre-K Program, serving eligible four-year olds.

In 2014, CCPFC was awarded a five year Federal grant to implement an Early Head Start program which serves children ages birth to three.

What We Do
The Cleveland County Partnership for Children promotes school readiness by planning and funding programs that help our young children arrive at Kindergarten ready for school success. We form collaborative partnerships with families, child care providers, schools, businesses, local government, agencies, organizations and the faith community to work together on behalf of young children and their families.

Our main focus areas are: Early Childhood Education, Child Health and Safety, Family Support/Parent Education and Community Collaboration.

Our Vision Statement:

All children have the right to a safe and nurturing home and community.

Families have primary responsibility for their children's development to their maximum potential.

Our community has the responsibility to make readily available and accessible the resources necessary to enable our families to provide the safe and nurturing home and community.

The goal is to create a climate emphasizing family values and responsibility in the community, which will promote interdependent living.

Equal access will be provided for all families and children to proper health care, educational opportunities and all other support services necessary to achieve and maintain a healthy and productive family.

Acknowledging that each of us has worth and something positive to share we commit our leadership and continual effort to this goal. This commitment will be ongoing until all families in Cleveland County are enjoying the quality of life, we all desire.
